My Top 10 ‘Diet’ Tips For Losing Weight

Firstly, congratulations if you are training regularly in the gym or at home to improve your health and fitness. It is important to remember though that the workout is just a part of the equation if you are trying to stay healthy or lose weight. There are so many myths out there and so many ‘diets’ that it can be very confusing. The important thing is to realize that eating well really can be simple. So, throw out all your outdated ideas about ‘dieting’ and create new habits with my top 10 nutrition tips:-

1. Eat 5 small meals a day
2. Never miss a meal, even if it is only a small snack
3. Aim to eat something about every 3 hours
4. Reverse your thinking! Make breakfast your largest meal and dinner your smallest meal
5. Allow 2-3 hours after your last meal before you go to sleep
6. A combination of protein (30%), carbohydrates (55%) and healthy fats (15%) at each meal is ideal
7. Avoid eating large amounts of starchy carbohydrates at night
8. Allow yourself one ‘cheat’ meal once a week
9. Learn to read food labels. Cut down sugar intake. Beware labelled ‘low fat’ foods as they are often high   in sugar to create more flavour.
10. Reduce alcohol intake.

If you are not already exercising regularly it is important that you start to incorporate a training program into your daily routine. You should be doing a combination of weight training and cardio training for best fat loss and body shaping results. Ideally, you should be aiming for 4 x 1 hour sessions per week for the best results. If you are unsure of what training to do, make sure you seek professional advice as it really can make a difference to your outcome. As you can see, it really does not have to be hard! Of course change sometimes can be challenging, but try to slowly incorporate a couple of the above tips into your daily routine and before you know it you will be bursting with energy and dropping body fat!
